Athens 2004
It is a button-mashing extravaganza and a collection of decent mini-games.
Athens 2004 is a game you won't play too often and really only one that is worth playing with your mates to see which of you will be the last to tire on the 1500 meter race. It is a button-mashing extravaganza and a collection of decent mini-games.
Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
Few upgrades from the Playstation 1.
While Crash the Wrath of Cortex is not hard, long, or fresh, a few new features and some fun level design keep the game enjoyable throughout. I mostly like the vehicle levels. They bring something new (pretty much the only new thing) to Crash and are the most fun levels to play. Everything else in the game is set up just like older Crashes.
The music and graphics are alright, but still look like ps1 graphics. Luckily, this was improved in later crash games and I'd have to recommend Crash Twinsanity or Tag Team Racing over this.
The controls are easy to get into after recognizing the controls from old Crash games, and they are easy to learn even if you haven't played a Crash game before. It is a great game to kick off you ps2 collection or get for a kid, but nothing special compared to what's on offer now.
The graphics in this game are pretty good, and everything is clear to see. It isn't the most exciting game and characters look bland and all the same, with only the country to choose from. The music is fair but with no national anthems. There is a fairly good backing commentary.
There is a wide array of games to play with detailed instructions of how to play them. However, most of these button-mashing games are tiring and break your controller. There are a bit of a laugh and some of the games, the ones which you are good at, or the less button-mashful games like archery, are fun to play. Nothing new, though, and only a game that you'll play on occasion. At 5 bucks, though, it's a steal.
A game you'll play again and again and again and again. And again.
Nothing as perfect as "Up your Arsenal" comes along very often. It has perfect sound effects, voice acting, music, graphics, gameplay, mutliplayer, replay value, story, weapons, characters, graphics, and level design. I have already beaten it 7 times, and, guess what, I'm not finished with it yet. It is the best Ratchet game of all time, and probably the best game of all time in my opinion. It is addictive and highly recommendable.
Part 1. PRESENTATION
"Up Your Arsenal" is presented perfectly. Not only is there are hilarious and interesting story, but there is great level, character, and weapon designs. There are no frame rate or camera issues and the intelligent design of the place to go is phenomenal. The game has short loading times and is really long, and has a challenge mode so you can start from the beginning with all the stuff you've unlocked kept with you, and do multiple bonus challenges. You can also unlock the "Insomniac Museum", which has kind of like the "Deleted scenes" of the game, so to speak. There is bonus mini-games, effect creator, and much, much more. If I see a game with such deep and fulfilling qualities as this I'll flip.
Part 2. GRAPHICS
There are little, close to none, graphical problems in this game. The frame rate keeps up with the huge amount of blasting and destroying you'll do, so no worries. The camera is free to control, so you'll be well satisfied. Everything looks great, especially for ps2 standards. Would be passable on the Wii or 360, and it's 5 years old!
Part 3. SOUND
I really love how much effort was put in on the voice acting and music. It is constantly amazing and always entertaining, and there is not one dull moment or section where the music just doesn't fit. You won't frown a single bit.
Part 4. GAMEPLAY
The gameplay in "Up Your Arsenal" is similar to the other Ratchets. You collect and upgrade your self and your weapons and add armor t protect from enemies. There are many fun boss battles, node-capturing sequences, bonus arena challenges, skill points to collect, Clank and Quark playable levels, things to collect, vehicle missions, and much more amazing content. There is even a perfect multiplayer and compatible online modes. There are loads of weapons to collect so you'll never be bored of your Arsenal and the game provides a long game with loads of challenging puzzles and entertaining combat scenes.
Part 5. REPLAY VALUE
I, as I mentioned earlier, am on my 8th run-through of this game. On challenge mode thins get harder but no matter, because you can upgrade your weapons further. The multiplayer is up with the ranks with Battlefront and, even though not the game's strongest point, really fun.
CLOSING
Up Your Arsenal is a really fun game. It is well presented, challenging, and amazingly entertaining. You won't find a dull moment even if you have every trophy, skill point, and upgrade in existence.

Herdy Gerdy
Herdy Gerdy is a children's game worthy of little praise.
Herdy Gerdy is about the most un-manly, un-exciting and un-interesting game I have ever played, keeping in mind I have played ET for the Atari. The game is full of glitches, frame-rate issues, annoying, childish characters, bad acting, frustratingly boring challenges, and downright awfully long loading times. It is a mediocre game even for those who like free-roaming animal herding (similar to Curse of the Were Rabbit). Kids may have a slight bit of enjoyment and there are a few fun puzzles but overall Herdy Gerdy is full of huge misses and minimal hits.
The game "Herdy Gerdy" is presented mediocerly, but has a huge loss in its voice acting. I was really disappointed with it. The story is relatively boring, but I like the way the areas have been set out. You'll definitely get the most enjoyment on the puzzles rather than the constant back-tracking and frequent, yet unsatisfying, exploration for items. Herding animals can be quite fun, but is no where near as in-depth as you would have hoped. The game has some challenging parts, but is quite easy overall.
If you have younger children, Herdy Gerdy might be a relatively fun romp. If you are an adult, however, you will little more than laugh hysterically at the un-manly characters, strange animations, and freaky gameplay.
The graphics in Herdy Gerdy are not so good. There is a constant frame rate issue and a huge amount of time for loading. The rest is done okay, but it is not the most impressive for our time. Back then it was praised some, but now it's more worth getting Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Were Rabbit because it's the same price but it's newer, longer, more exciting, has a great story, and it has short loading times.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
A Great Game with a few broken parts.
While the Force Unleashed is way behind the next-gen versions of the game, it manages to walk on by a a steady pace. Nice gameplay, story, and presentation enhance your experience, and a few minor flaws set it back.
Let's start off with the story. You are Starkiller, a kidnapped son of a jedi survivor of the clone wars who is now a servant for Darth Vader. The game is based around doing tasks for Vader and later on rebelling against him and the empire. The story is interesting and well structured, and you can view 200 pieces of arts and dozens of databanks to do with the story(the art pieces must be collected, they are scattered about the levels).
The gameplay is far from bland. You have numerous force powers to choose from, and they can all be upgraded. You can choke, push, electrify, levitate and more, and you can also use your lightsaber, which you can customize by color and style (provided you collect the color crystals and saber hilts). If you collect all the Jedi Holocrons you can reveal secret codes to unlock dozens of bonus characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo. It is fun to try out these features. Fighting enemies is fun but not the strongest aspect of the game. Loading times are infrequent and short. Puzzles are fun to solve. The gamplay is over-all very good.
